November 20th will feature a panel on “Social Giving, Social Good.” This is the year that social sharing extended into social caring. From national viral campaigns like the ALS Association #IceBucketChallenge to successful North Texas social charity fundraisers, on-line giving has taken off. Our panel explores the factors driving the growth such as viral content, changing attitudes and new platforms and on-line tools that facilitate giving. Our speakers include:
- Tanner Hockensmith, Executive Director, ALS Association, who will share the Ice Bucket Challenge story.
- Carol Pierce Goglia, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Communities Foundation of Texas, which runs North Texas Giving Day. The one-day event that has infused nearly $90 million into regional nonprofits since its inception.
- Megan Van Groll, Social Strategist, Richards Group, speaking about The Salvation Army’s #RedKettleReason campaign, and effective ways to employ user-generated content (UGC).
We’ll wrap up the year December 11th with the Jingle Mingle, the fundraising and networking event sponsored by 10 area marketing associations, including SMC Dallas. Proceeds from the Jingle Mingle benefit the Dream Fund. It’s the third consecutive year for the event. If you only go to one holiday party this year, make this the one!
